Sharni Webb ready to Wed

The Brisbane Lions’ AFLW side’s season kicks off in just nine sleeps, but before then, Sharni Webb will make a quick trip down the aisle to the alter.

This Saturday Webb will marry her longtime partner Andrew Maclean.

“Looking in hindsight, it was probably the worst time to plan a wedding but I’m really excited,” Webb told lions.com.au.

Not only is the 27-year-old juggling pre-season training while organising her wedding, she was back this week working as a teacher as school returned.

It’s been a busy time, but one she wouldn’t change.

She admits the pre-season has been tough. But an added bonus of being pushed to her absolute limits in pre-season by her High Performance Manager Matt Green and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Tiernan Gamble, is that she is in tip-top shape.

“With Matt and T, ‘shredding for the wedding’, has been the hashtag in the pre-season,” she said.

Her trainers will be glad to hear she will not indulge too much on the big day.

“I don’t want to lose all the efforts I’ve put in over the pre-season but I think I’ll have a couple of sneaky glasses of champagne at the key moments,” she said.

Webb is just as excited for Round 1’s clash with the Adelaide Crows, as she is for her own wedding.

This season will be extra special for her, after she was recently named in the Lions’ six-woman leadership group.

“It was unexpected to be voted in by the playing group,” she said.

“I’m stoked to be a part of that calibre of girls. I was really proud of myself and really humbled that the girls thought I could take that role on.”

Webb believes her communication is what her teammates respect. She will need to be loud in Adelaide, as they are expecting a hostile crowd.

“Norwood was pretty vocal and animated and I think we thrive in that environment,” she said.

“I think we can’t rest on our laurels from last year. We had a great first season and we should be very proud of that but we need to reset, look at the drawing board again and figure out how we’re going to tackle this new season.”

In case we needed any proof that Barack Obama was a great boss, the 44th president of the United States spent Sunday officiating two former staffers’ wedding. Dana Remus, a general counsel for the Obama Foundation and Obama’s personal office, married Brett Holmgren, a former special assistant to the president, in a 120-guest ceremony at District Winery in D.C.’s Navy Yard.
As The Washingtonian first reported, Holmgren, the groom, said the couple decided to invite Obama “because he was such an important part of our lives.” Ours too. Apparently, the 44th president of the United States was pretty jazzed about the idea of officiating. As Holmgren said, “We also asked him if he could officiate, and he was intrigued with the idea.” Naturally, the former president, who is said to have obtained a temporary officiant’s license through the District of Columbia, was prominently featured on the wedding program. To be fair, Obama doesn’t show up to your wedding—your wedding shows up to Obama.
Not only did he officiate the ceremony, but the former president also gave a speech after the bride’s walk down the aisle and served as a signer on the couple’s marriage certificate. Holmgren and Remus kept their former boss’s cameo under wraps, so most of the guests were surprised to be attending a wedding with a presidential address… literally. I guess it’s good to know their guests were showing up for the right reasons and not just for a selfie with Obama—not that we would blame them.
The former president also managed to make a brief appearance at the couple’s reception, where he chatted with guests and took pictures with the wedding party. The groom’s mother told The Washingtonian, “It was a very very exciting moment. Everybody who was there was just flabbergasted and amazed at just what a nice person he is.”
Anyway, countdown until 45 demands to see Obama’s officiant license and calls the wedding fake news.

Maisie Williams has landed her sweetest role yet: being a bridesmaid at her best friend Sophie Turner 's wedding to Joe Jonas.
According to Harper's Bazaar, in an interview with Radio Times, when asked if she was "bidding for a role as a bridesmaid" at the ceremony, Williams responded with a laugh, "Oh, I've already got it."
She added, "It's very, very exciting. It's kind of bizarre, though."
Turner and Jonas likely won't tie the knot any time soon, however. Williams hinted that the couple is waiting until Turner and the Game of Thrones cast finish filming the show's eighth and final season before they start planning the wedding .
"We're waiting 'till this season's done until we get into any of that," she said.

Turner, 21, and Jonas, 28, announced their engagement in October 2017 after dating for about a year. The actress posted a photo of her ring on Instagram with a simple caption—"I said yes," she wrote. The couple hosted an intimate engagement party a month later.
It didn't take long for her onscreen sister and real-life BFF to publicly congratulate her on the news. The day after the announcement, Maisie reposted the photo of Sophie's ring with a sweet message: "Congratulations to my beautiful girlfriend on her engagement ???? This is just one of MANY life milestones we'll share. Love you both ????#mophie #jophie #holymoly"

Turner's ceremony isn't the only Game of Thrones wedding in the works—her costar Kit Harington (Jon Snow) is also getting married to his former scene partner Rose Leslie (Ygritte). Unlike Turner, Harington might not wait until after the season to say his vows; his and Leslie's nuptials could take place mid-production, which means they'd have to pause filming Season 8 so the whole cast can be present.
"I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way,’" Harrington recalled telling a GoT producer. "They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down."

MANILA, Philippines – Coleen Garcia is no bridezilla. After finding the perfect wedding planner, the actress is more than happy to take a step back and let the team take the lead. (READ:

In an interview with Coleen at the press conference of
Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin's final weekon Thursday, January 18, she shared that she has always been “very meticulous.”

“When I got engaged, I thought I’d be very meticulous, very picky. I want everything to go my way
kasi (because) it’s my personality, eh. I’m such a perfectionist and I thought I was gonna bring that to my wedding planning,” she shared. (READ: Coleen Garcia and Billy Crawford are engaged)

But Coleen realized that it’s all about finding the right people. According to her, she eventually let go and decided that she wanted to be surprised on the day of the wedding.

Coleen shared that after she got engaged, she received several offers from designers, each eager to dress her on her special day. She shared that she also did a lot of research on her own, searching for top wedding designers online. But ultimately, she chose her wedding gown not based on the label but because it matched her personality perfectly.

“I searched for different portfolios. I searched for different photos then
pinili ko ‘yung pinaka ako, ‘yung pinaka kami (I chose the one that's most me, that's most us). So even for the dress, so many names popped up, but no, I’m gonna choose the style that suits me.”

will air its final episode on Friday, January 26. As much as she will be missing her co-stars Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, and Jake Cuenca, Coleen shared that it was also difficult to say goodbye to her character, Isabel.

If she's given the chance, Coleen also wants to take on more villain roles, whether it be in a movie or in another series. Even though kontrabidas get a lot of heat online, Coleen still wants to take on the challenge.

“I’ve gone through so much hate already, so might as well,” she said, laughing.

Sin Island

Earlier this month, Coleen wrapped up filming for her new movie
Sin Island
with Xian Lim and Nathalie Hart. While the release date has yet to be announced, the actress revealed that it’s going to be “much sooner than you think.”

Brittany and Nick Millsap had the “in sickness and in health” part of their vows solid even before the wedding.
On Jan. 5, the duo married in the hospital room of the bride’s father at CalvertHealth Medical Center, after their plans changed again, again and again to fulfill her wishes of her father being able to attend her wedding.
Lenny Johnson was diagnosed with AL amyloidosis and found out it was terminal in December. AL amyloidosis is a bone marrow disorder, according to the amyloidosis foundation. At the time, doctors said he had 12 months to live. The couple originally intended to have an October 2018 wedding.
“I think I always knew it wasn’t a good idea to wait that long,” Brittany Millsap said, explaining that as early as November, she tried to convince her family that an earlier wedding would be better.
Brittany and Nick Millsap were engaged in June of last year with the help of her father. They purchased a home together in Dunkirk and Lenny Johnson took on the bulk of the renovation work. During a housewarming party, Johnson said he had another gift for the couple and his daughter was blindfolded and led to the deck, where Nick was waiting with the ring.
With the December diagnosis of having 12 months to live, Millsap didn’t want to take it to chance that her father might not be able to give her away in October.
“It broke my heart to think he wouldn’t be there,” she said. So, they moved the wedding to Feb. 24 in Huntingtown.
Within a week, Johnson’s condition worsened. So the wedding was moved up again, to Jan. 6. He was admitted to CalvertHealth Medical Center on Jan. 4, according to a press release. On Jan. 5, Millsap and her bridal party were getting their nails done, her gift to her friends as she didn’t have time to purchase gifts for them. While at the nail salon, Millsap’s mother called and said the hospital said it wasn’t safe for Johnson to leave for the wedding.
“He was devastated, he was angry. It broke my heart that he was just as upset as I was,” Millsap said.
So the wedding plans were changed a final time. With one phone call, maid of honor Lauren Jackson called the hospital to find out how to have the wedding there.
“I know how important it was to Brittany for her dad to be there for her wedding,” said maid of honor Lauren Jackson. “Really all I had to do was call them and they took care of everything else.”
Later the same day, Jan. 5, hospital staff moved Johnson into a double room to fit the handful of wedding guests. They brought in floral arrangements and a lit Christmas tree. The Rev. Jeannie Marsh of Smithville United Methodist Church officiated the intimate ceremony.
“It was beautiful what they were able to do for us. And none of it would have been possible had those nurses not been determined to make it happen,” said Kathryne Johnson, Brittany’s mother. “I get very emotional talking about it, but my husband and I are so appreciative of what the staff at Calvert did for us and our daughter.”
The couple did have their Jan. 6 celebration at Smithville United Methodist Church with more friends and family, but they officially became Mr. and Mrs. Millsap on Level 2 of CalvertHealth Medical Center the day prior. Lenny Johnson is now at home in Dunkirk.
